Cafe del photo #101 «The Color of Pomegranates»

"The Color of Pomegranates" by Sergei Parajanov is a cinematic poem about Sayat-Nova, an 18th-century Armenian poet and singer. His life unfolds through images, like an ancient manuscript: pomegranate juice, pages of a book, fabric patterns, gestures, prayer, music, silence. Here, words become colors, and a single object can hold an entire story within it. From childhood through the years at the monastery to old age, the poet's life unfolds before us like a chain of verses. The film asks us to slow down, to watch closely and listen attentively, in order to enter the inner world of Sayat-Nova.

Gathering at 6:00 PM on November 7th. Please bring some treats to share—after all, we’re a proper cinema, and we need snacks to enjoy while watching the movie! Get creative with your choices—let’s go beyond just plain cookies. And if you happen to whip up that wonderful "shuba" (layered herring salad) or those fantastic blini again, you’ll prove just how invaluable you are! It’s a chance to socialize, meet new people, catch up on each other’s lives, share the latest gossip, and so on—all of which is important, interesting, and worthwhile. So, we’ll set aside an hour for gathering, introductions, chatting, and catching up on news.
The screening begins at 7:00 PM sharp. The film starts on time; if you’re late, that’s your own problem!
At 9:00 PM, after a short break, we’ll take a look at some new photos or other projects we’ve been working on. Bring along things you’ve created or projects you’re currently developing—let’s share our latest work with one another. If you’d like to present something, please let Roman know in advance so everything can be set up properly.
