A free-to-enter international award honoring documentary and photojournalistic photo series that expose humanitarian crises and human rights abuses.
Open to professional and non-professional photographers of legal age worldwide, as well as collectives of two or more people, this award invites a single series of 5–10 JPEG images addressing themes such as health, humanitarian action, migration, refugees, armed conflict, social exclusion, inequalities and human rights violations. Entries are submitted anonymously via the Picter platform with a project description, biography and captions, and are judged by an international jury of photography and humanitarian professionals. Now in its 30th edition, it commemorates four Médicos del Mundo aid workers killed while assisting civilians in conflict zones, and winning series are published in a catalogue and shown in a touring exhibition across Spain.
